Meet The Team
Weston Wunder
OWNER & LANDSCAPE DESIGNER
Weston started the company 7 years ago after his previous employer decided to shut down his company. He saw an opportunity to start his own company by securing some long term maintenance accounts with a few key customers. Landscapes By Design, Inc started as a small operation with only 3 full-time team members its first year.
The company has since grown to employ 10 full-time staff members and up to 20 seasonal or part-time team members during the season. Weston has always had an interest in native planting design, because of their low maintenance. Weston specializes in native planting design, eco-design, and restoration of small prairie areas. Weston is a Level l ICPI Certified Installer, a Slater Small Business Member, Member of Ames Home Builders Association, Active Member in SIMA (Snow and Ice Management Association) and working towards his Certified Snow Plow Professional certification.
He graduated from Iowa State University in 2001 with his BLA in Landscape Architecture; Weston also has Bio-Tech degree, and spent a year in a fine arts school studying drawing and painting. He still enjoys being a visiting critic and lecturer on subjects of design, construction, and business management. Weston brings a vision of growth and quality control to the company and oversees each project and design personally. With a diverse 10 year background in landscape construction, we can ensure that the designs we install are both unique and functional. Weston works with the operations manager to ensure projects are built on time and on budget, and works daily to deliver quality landscape construction services to all of customers. He particularly enjoys designing outdoor spaces that allow clients the opportunity to enjoy their yards. In the winter he switches gears and manages a large snow removal operation that serves commercial, industrial, and Town Home Associations.
When not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife Shanna and their four kids, snowmobiling, and of course hunting ducks and geese in several states and Canada.
